Features: This textbook is a product of academic exchange and collaboration by the Southwest Branch of the Chinese Legal History Society. Since implementing the line, principles, and policies of the 11th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, universities in Southwest China have conducted long-term explorations in reforming the teaching of foreign legal history and adapting it to new circumstances, accumulating certain experience. Under these conditions, we decided to compile this textbook based on the "Teaching Syllabus for Foreign Legal History" of Southwest University of Political Science and Law in 1987. This textbook systematically elaborates on the historical development, basic content, characteristics, and influence of foreign legal systems from a macro perspective. It has undergone significant adjustments in structure, with content expansion and updates, featuring clear and concise lines, striving to reflect scientificity, systematicity, and knowledge. The textbook has a flexible structure, suitable for undergraduate teaching in law departments of universities, and can be appropriately selected and adapted by institutions to meet the needs of legal education at various levels. It can also serve as a reference textbook for self-study in law.
