New Studies in Traditional Chinese Culture (Issue 3)

Author: Shantou University New Confucianism Research Center
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-04-01
Features: The establishment of New Confucianism Studies aims to reconstruct the holistic concept of Chinese academia and, on this new foundation, to engage more proactively and effectively in academic research across various fields, disciplines, and specialties. "New Confucianism" does not reject any valuable research findings or deny the necessity of academic debate and discussion, and it primarily publishes long-form academic papers ranging from two to twelve thousand words. This is Issue 3, which mainly includes Wang Furén's The Logical Structure of Confucius's Sociological Theory, Li Qing's A Study on the Origins of Painting and Sculpture Art during the Luoyan and Shanshan Periods in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Zhou Xing's A Review of Realistic Themes in a Hundred Years of Chinese Cinema, and more. This book provides a platform for publication, embodying our specific understanding of the "New Confucianism" academic concept through its inclusivity and rigor. New Confucianism Studies primarily publishes long-form academic papers ranging from two to twelve thousand words. This is not our preference but rather because most current academic journals focus on publishing papers under 20,000 words, while academic books published by presses are typically not shorter than 12,000 words. This makes it difficult for long-form papers (2,000–12,000 words) to find publication opportunities, contributing to a certain degree of homogenization in academic writing styles. We hope to provide a platform for these hard-to-publish long-form papers and make our academic writing styles more free and diverse.
