Weyin: Miscellaneous Notes

Author: Wu Limin

Publishing Date: 2005-07-01
Features: Weyin (Buddhist Magazine) was founded in January 1930 as a bimonthly. It was later changed to a monthly in its 25th issue and ceased publication in September 1937, with a total of 78 issues published. The original magazine featured articles in nine categories: essays, schools of Buddhism, scriptural exegesis, esoteric Buddhism, translations, miscellaneous notes, monographs, forums, and news. Due to the limited space in magazine publications, some articles spanned several years and were scattered across different issues, making it difficult to locate them. Now, the Cultural Department of Zhiliang Pure Land Temple in Hong Kong has vowed to reorganize and categorize Weyin in an anthology format. Mr. Wu Limin was appointed as the chief editor to reformat and punctuate the content, dividing the entire work into nine volumes based on the original magazine's categories: essays, schools of Buddhism, scriptural exegesis, esoteric Buddhism, translations, miscellaneous notes, monographs, forums, and news. The original front covers of books were also compiled and attached at the end of the News Volume, and an index of the Weyin Anthology was added at the end of each volume.
