Features: Beijing Dance Academy is located in a picturesque Zizhu Yuan in Beijing, with thousands of towering bamboo groves and emerald waters. Beside the Zizhu Yuan stands a world-renowned dance school. Drawing on the spiritual essence of bamboo and the essence of heaven and earth, it has nurtured generations of outstanding dancers who have made significant contributions to China's dance industry. This is Beijing Dance Academy, a leading institution of higher learning in dance. Established in 1954, it was approved by the State Council in 1978 to be transformed into a university-level institution, primarily cultivating advanced dance performance and choreography talents for national art performance troupes, as well as training dance educators across the country. To date, it has nurtured over 2,000 advanced dance culture talents for the nation, who are distributed across various regions at home and abroad, bringing honor to their country and their alma mater in major domestic performances and international cultural exchanges. The academy covers an area of 8 hectares, with the first phase of campus construction completed, encompassing a total building area of approximately 80,000 square meters. It includes the main dance teaching building, cultural curriculum teaching building, library building, TV and research center, office buildings, student dormitories, canteens, and bathhouses. Recently, it has completed a teaching and office complex for the affiliated secondary school covering over 10,000 square meters. The second phase of campus construction will involve the construction of a dance training building, student apartments for international students, and an internship theater, making it the largest professional dance academy in the world. According to the newly released undergraduate major catalog by the Ministry of Education, the academy has adjusted its undergraduate programs to three majors: Performance, Dance Choreography, and Dance Studies. The Performance major includes Chinese Classical Dance Performance, Chinese Folk Dance Performance, Ballet Performance, Oriental Dance Performance, International Standard Dance Performance, and Musical Theater Performance. The teaching institutions consist of the Chinese Folk Dance Department, the Chinese Folk Dance Department, the Ballet Department, the Choreography Department, the Dance Studies Department, the Social Music and Dance Department, the Social Sciences Department, the Music Department, the Adult Education Department, and the newly established Oriental Dance Department. Additionally, there is the Dance Studies Research Institute, the Dance Library and Information Center, and the Affiliated Secondary School of Dance, as well as the Youth Dance Troupe. The academy boasts a strong faculty, with 486 employees, including 235 full-time teachers and 84 with senior professional titles. There are 1,096 students enrolled (542 undergraduates and 554 affiliated secondary school students). The academy offers a wide range of dance genres with abundant teaching materials and a rigorous academic approach. It has won numerous gold, silver, and bronze awards for outstanding dance works in domestic and international competitions: 57 international awards and 75 domestic awards; and 57 international and 225 domestic awards for outstanding performances. In research, the academy has received 11 awards from the Ministry of Culture, including Science and Technology Innovation Awards and Technological Progress Awards. The "Retest Percentage System" for dance talent selection has won the First Prize in the National Education Science and Technology Achievement Award. In dance research papers, it has received multiple National "Dance Research Cup" Excellence Awards. The Affiliated Secondary School of Dance has been recognized as a National Key Secondary School. The academy adheres to the principle of combining classroom teaching with stage practice. Notable works created by the academy, such as the Chinese folk dance dramas "Bao Lian Deng," "Xiao Dao Hui," "Yu Mei Ru," "Wen Cheng Gong," and "Tong Que Ji," as well as the Chinese ballet dramas "Hong Sao," "The Little Match Girl," and "Jia," along with world-renowned ballets like "Swan Lake," "The Pirate," "In Vain," "Notre Dame de Paris," "Giselle," and "The Nutcracker," have contributed to the development of teaching and improved the quality of education. In recent years, the academy has produced a large number of dance works and dance galas, both in quantity and quality, attracting international attention and high praise. In terms of international exchanges, Beijing Dance Academy has established academic relationships with the Moscow State Academy of Choreography in Russia, the Royal Ballet School in the UK, the Houston Ballet School in the US, the Nanyang Academy of Arts in Singapore, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In addition to hiring a certain number of foreign experts annually, teachers from the academy have been invited to lecture in 12 countries and regions, including the US, UK, and others. The academy's extensive international cultural exchange activities have yielded outstanding results in various international dance competitions. In 1998, Beijing Dance Academy was approved by the National Degree Committee as a master's degree-granting institution and officially enrolled the first batch of master's students in "Dance Studies" in 1999. The same year, it was honored as a "National Advanced Unit in Cultural Work" by the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Culture. Beijing Dance Academy has nurtured numerous dancers, dance teachers, choreographers, and dance scholars, who are now distributed across various regions at home and abroad. People affectionately call it the "Cradle of Dance Artists."

The School of Arts and Media at Beijing Normal University has a history of nearly 90 years. Renowned musicians, artists, playwrights, and filmmakers such as Xiao You, Li Baocen, He Luting, Hong Shen, Lao Zhicheng, Jiao Juyin, Jiang Fengzhi, Wei Tianlin, Zhang Xiaohu, and Wu Guanzhong have once taught here. The School of Arts and Media is divided into four departments: Film and Television and Media, Music, Fine Arts and Calligraphy, and Dance. Additionally, it has the Public Arts Education Center, the Film and Television Drama Research Center, the Chinese Calligraphy Research Center, and the Film and Television Creation and Production Center. The academy enrolls undergraduate, master's, doctoral, postdoctoral, advanced training, visiting scholar, and international students; as well as evening and correspondence students. Since the reform and opening-up, the academy has strengthened its ties with art education circles both domestically and internationally, establishing academic exchange relationships with renowned universities in the US, Japan, Canada, Germany, the UK, Australia, and regions such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. It has also built strong cooperative relationships with many key comprehensive universities and art academies in China. For many years, the academy has received donations from socially conscious individuals to support education. Mr. Tan Jia Bing, a patriotic figure from Hong Kong, donated funds to construct the Arts Building, providing excellent conditions for the cultivation of arts education talent and long-term development.
Film and Television and Media Department: Film and Television Major, with sub-directions in Film and Television and Media and Digital Media.
Music Department: Includes Music Education Major. It has established the Music Art Performance Troupe and the Music Education Research Center.
Fine Arts and Calligraphy Department: Professional programs include Fine Arts, Calligraphy, and Art Design. Both Fine Arts and Calligraphy have master's programs, and it also enrolls doctoral students in Chinese Characters and Calligraphy.
Dance Department: Includes Dance Education, Dance Performance and Choreography, the Beijing Normal University Dance Art Troupe, and the Dance Fitness Research Laboratory.
