I was born in a small place, and you probably wouldn’t know it anyway. I didn’t do well in school as a child and had to repeat fourth grade. In sixth grade, I joined a school gang and had a girlfriend who was then stolen away by my buddies. The high school I attended was a complete mess. And three years later, I ended up in an even more chaotic place—a normal university in the wilderness. I majored in Chinese, though I didn’t graduate, I became a writer. I had many friends around me, but I became a writer. I had many friends around me, but they eventually disappeared one by one. I keep searching, but what I’m looking for never appears.
