Patient's question:
24-year-old male has been feeling quite tired recently and has noticed his body isn't feeling healthy. Could this be the result of this illness? Please ask: Is prostatitis contagious?Doctor's answer:
Prostatitis may or may not be infectious, depending on the cause of prostatitis. Generally, chronic pelvic pain syndrome is the most common form of prostatitis. Its symptoms include recurrent urinary tract infections, without fever, but with discomfort in the perineum, occasional testicular or lower back pain, etc. However, in current clinical diagnosis, it is difficult to identify which microorganism is the cause, so this type of prostatitis rarely recurs. Additionally, some prostatitis is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, mycoplasma, or chlamydia, which theoretically could be spread through sexual contact, but this is less common.
