American Law Newsletter (Second Issue)

Author: Lin Xiaoyun
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-03-01
Features: As the name implies, the journal primarily focuses on introducing the developments in American law. While it includes some theoretical articles, it places greater emphasis on the practical application of American law in reality. To effectively fulfill its role as a "communication" platform, we have introduced two new columns, "Legislation and Judicial Updates" and "Key Case Tracking," starting from this issue. In the future, we will gradually enrich the content in these areas. In this issue, the legislative and judicial developments in areas such as import and export and intellectual property, collected and compiled by Mr. Pan Changhe of China University of Political Science and Law and Ms. Pan Yuming of the editorial department, should be beneficial to domestic readers interested in the new developments in American law.
Book reviews are an indispensable component of any high-quality legal journal and also one of our current weaknesses. To address this shortcoming, we have introduced two monographs on the same topic—the "reform" of the current litigation system in the United States—but with entirely opposite perspectives. We hope this will serve as a catalyst for discussion and encourage contributions from our esteemed scholars. To enhance readability, we have also selected and compiled some historical anecdotes, portraits of notable figures, legal industry rumors, and snippets of miscellaneous information, all in the hope of providing domestic readers with a comprehensive window into American law.
