1. This illustrated is divided into two volumes:
Volume I. Novels and Prose;
Volume II. Miscellaneous Writings.
1. Volume I of Novels and Prose includes all the novels from Lu Xun's three collections: Najie (Awakening), Panghuang (Tumult), and Gushi Xinbian (New Tales of Ancient Stories); prose is primarily collected from the reminiscence prose collection Zhaohua Xishi (Morning Blossoms Plucked at Dusk) and the prose sketch collection Yecao (Wild Grass).
2. Volume II of Miscellaneous Writings includes representative articles written by Lu Xun during various periods (excluding early Classical Chinese essays). They are generally arranged in the order of the author's self-edited collections. A few series of articles with related or similar themes, as well as extra-collated works, have been adjusted appropriately based on their content.
2. The annotations in the book are divided into title notes and text notes.
1. Title notes for each article generally indicate where and when the work was originally published (the date is noted for newspapers, while for journals, only the year and issue number are mentioned), as well as the pseudonym used at the time of publication and later the collection it was included in (when the pseudonym Lu Xun is used, it is omitted). Title notes provide as objectively as possible relevant information about the author's writing process and the background at the time, for reference by readers.
2. Text notes are placed at the end of each article. To avoid trivial details, phrases that are generally familiar to readers and do not pose reading obstacles, such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Cao Xueqin, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin, Dream of the Red Chamber, etc., are not annotated.
3. Any original notes by the author are clearly marked as "Author's Original Note."
3. The illustrations in the book are selected from significant cultural artifacts, photographs, and works of comics, woodcuts, ink paintings, watercolors, and oil paintings by renowned Chinese and foreign artists.
4. In 2001, as the new century began, Mr. Lu Xun celebrated his 120th birthday. To commemorate this, our publishing house launched this illustrated as a tribute to this pioneer of modern Chinese literature and one of the most outstanding writers of the 20th century, whose influence will continue to resonate into the future.
