Features: Shanghai is a historic and cultural city of China, with over 130 national and municipal cultural heritage sites, where one can explore the historical changes and distinctive regional cultures of Shanghai from ancient times to the present. Shanghai is also an ideal "paradise for shopping," with four streets and four cities offering a satisfying and heartwarming shopping experience. Moreover, Shanghai is a city of international architectural wonders, from the diverse architectural clusters along the Bund to the old and new Shikumen alleys, from Lujiazui to the ancient North District, a dazzling array of new and old buildings leaves visitors in awe. Today, Shanghai has become an international modern metropolis that blends ancient charm with modern trends, seamlessly integrating Western culture and Eastern styles. Its unique charm attracts countless domestic and international tourists.
Shanghai covers an area of over 6,400 square kilometers, with hundreds of tourist attractions and points of interest. How can Shanghai residents and tourists from around the world better understand Shanghai, its diverse urban landscapes, rich cultures, and thriving commercial scenes within a limited time? The Shanghai Tourism Association has meticulously compiled this book, "Weekend Getaways in Shanghai," as a golden key to unlock the city for travelers.
After carefully reviewing the manuscript, I found that the key features of this travel guide can be summarized in three words: "Comprehensive" — the content is thorough, with a focus on travel, covering the six essential elements of tourism: sightseeing, transportation, accommodation, dining, shopping, and entertainment, all in detail. "Up-to-date" — some of the information is current as of June 2002. "Practical" — the data is reliable and detailed, with addresses, phone numbers, and transportation routes provided, greatly facilitating self-guided tours for readers.
