Historiographical Methodology

Author: Lin Jiayou
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-12-01
Features: The articles and manuscripts included in this book have only a small portion published publicly, with the majority being posthumously published. The articles and manuscripts, especially the lectures, drew upon the research findings of many scholars during the writing process. Although the book is titled Methodology of Historiography, it primarily discusses specific historical research techniques and the various aspects that should be paid attention to in historical studies. It does not delve much into grand theories. The author chose to do so because he believed it was more practical and useful than merely talking about the so-called methodology. The reason the author compiled and published these immature articles and manuscripts as Methodology of Historiography is very clear: to provide some materials and space for reflection for young students who are learning history. It is hoped that these scholars will start well and walk the right path in their studies and practice of history, and that they will achieve success early on, dedicating their wisdom and talent to their country and nation.
