Jadeite and jade are extremely similar, but jadeite is hard jade, while jade is soft jade. Their properties differ. Jadeite has a higher hardness and specific gravity than jade, and it is also more expensive. It is primarily produced in Myanmar, while jade is abundant and inexpensive, often used to make various decorative items. Statistics show that Taiwan's famous jade production ranks first in the world annually, with excellent quality and vibrant colors, highly favored by people both domestically and internationally.
In the past, jadeite processing often involved mixing white substances into beautiful green stones, then skillfully carving them into toggles, grinding them into round or oval shapes to make rings. This modification was likely influenced by Westerners. In Taiwan, the price of jadeite depends on consumer preference, unlike other precious stones that have fixed standards, making it extremely difficult to determine. However, generally, color and size are still the main criteria. Jadeite is composed of fine crystalline aggregates, forming a semi-transparent, strong, and durable material that is not easily broken.
