Publish Date: 2006-04-01
Features: This is a legendary figure: when he wanted to write poetry, he wrote excellent poems and established new forms for new poetry; when he wanted to write prose, he wrote it with extraordinary skill and distinction; when he wanted to love, he loved with abandon and without restraint. This is the Xu Zhimo we are facing now. His life was not marked by earth-shaking achievements; it was as brief as a wisp of smoke drifting into the sky, and he vanished even before he had the chance to experience the maturity of middle age. Yet, despite this, he has been long discussed and remembered by people! This complete collection aims to provide readers and researchers with a relatively complete and accurate reading of Xu Zhimo's works, not as a critical edition. The complete collection is arranged by category and chronology. All works are divided into seven categories: prose, poetry, fiction, drama, correspondence, diaries, and translations. Among the translations, there are four subcategories: translated texts, translated poems, translated fiction, and translated drama. Correspondence is categorized by recipient. It is divided into eight volumes. The arrangement is as follows: Volumes 1 to 3 are prose, Volume 4 is poetry, Volume 5 is fiction, drama, and diaries, Volume 6 is correspondence, and Volumes 7 and 8 are translations. At the end of Volume 8, there is an appendix with Xu Zhimo's "Chronology of Writings and Translations" and a "Bibliography of Individual Works." The Complete Collection of Xu Zhimo took 8 years to compile and is an 8-volume set, collecting approximately 2.5 million words of Xu Zhimo's poetry, prose, fiction, drama, translated texts, correspondence, and diaries, encompassing all of his works that are currently available. The chief editor, Han Shishan, is also a scholar who studies Xu Zhimo. According to him, The Complete Collection integrates the discoveries of experts and scholars from all over the country over the past decade, who have provided many previously uncollected works of Xu Zhimo that were not included in earlier editions.
