Features: Hebei University of Science and Technology is a key comprehensive university under the construction of Hebei Province. The university covers an area of 3867 acres, with a construction area of 460,000 square meters, fixed assets of 400 million yuan, and a library with 1.3 million books. It subscribes to more than 1,800 Chinese and foreign scientific and technical journals, and has established various mirror stations and databases, including academic journals from home and abroad, scientific and technological achievements, enterprise products, and digital books. The university has 16 colleges, 2 provincial key disciplines, 2 provincial key laboratories, 22 master's degree-granting disciplines, and 52 undergraduate majors. The disciplines and majors cover 7 major categories, including engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law, and medicine, basically covering Hebei Province's traditional industries and high-tech industries.
The School of Art and Design at Hebei University of Science and Technology has a history of 17 years since the establishment of the art and design discipline in 1987. Under the attention of the university's Party and government leadership, the school has made significant development in terms of its scale and level of education. There are currently 57 professional teachers in the school, including 17 associate professors and professors, and 28 teachers with master's degrees or higher (including those currently pursuing doctorate or master's degrees). Nearly 600 graduate and undergraduate students are enrolled. The school is divided into the Department of Visual Communication Design, the Department of Architectural and Environmental Design, the Department of Decorative Design, the Department of Digital Animation, the Department of Music, the Basic Department, the Quality Education Center, the China Jiping Inner Painting Art Research Center, and the Advertising Design Research Center, among others. It also has 7 professional laboratories, 6 professional computer rooms, and multiple multimedia classrooms. Over the years, the school has continuously deepened the reform of teaching, promoted knowledge renewal, and always emphasized the "central position of teaching work, the core position of teaching reform, the primary position of teaching quality, and the priority position of teaching investment." During the teaching process, it focuses on cultivating students' solid professional foundation and creative thinking. After years of teaching practice, it has formed a "pragmatic and enterprising" teaching style and a "diligent exploration" learning style. We deeply realize that "quality is the lifeblood of the university, and characteristics are the vitality of the university." To consolidate and expand the results of classroom teaching and broaden students' horizons, we pay attention to strengthening students' connection with society and their hands-on skills, and have established 6 teaching practice bases. Currently, the school has trained nearly a thousand graduates, who are employed in government agencies, universities, factories, enterprises, educational and scientific research institutions, and publishing and media organizations across the country. Some of them have become well-known experts in their professional fields and academic leaders in their disciplines. Many of them have become technical backbone personnel in various units. On the basis of improving teaching quality, teachers actively strive for research projects and strengthen theoretical research. In the past five years, 108 papers and works have been published in academic journals, 10 papers have been presented at academic conferences, 5 academic monographs have been published, 9 professional textbooks have been published, and more than 20 compilations have been compiled. Among them, 4 books have won national and provincial publishing awards. 1 teaching achievement award at the provincial level has been won. Many paintings and design works have been selected for the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Fine Arts Exhibitions and various professional exhibitions, with a total of 19 provincial and above awards. 8 provincial and above key projects have been undertaken and completed, 2 invention patents have been obtained, and direct economic benefits of 3.316 million yuan have been achieved. Currently, 7 enterprise and institutional projects are being undertaken. The School of Art and Design at Hebei University of Science and Technology has the master's degree in design and art, and offers three training directions: illustration art research, visual communication design (theory and practice), and interior design (theory and practice). Its high-level talents with systematic and solid professional design theoretical foundations, relevant disciplinary knowledge, an understanding and mastery of the latest trends and dynamics of domestic and international design, and strong competitiveness, capable of overall planning and design in the information society and the globalized economic era.
The school pays great attention to international exchanges and has conducted multidisciplinary and multidirectional academic exchanges with more than ten key art schools at home and abroad. It has appointed 14 influential scholars and experts at home and abroad as part-time professors of the school. In recent years, we have sent many teachers to visit and study in countries such as Japan, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, which have greatly promoted the development of the school.

The Department of Fine Arts at Chengde National Normal College Higher Vocational School was established in 1986, one of the earlier departments in similar institutions in Hebei Province, with relatively strong teaching resources. Since its establishment, it has cultivated a large number of fine arts talents for Chengde and other regions in Hebei Province. A considerable number of graduates have become backbone forces in the field of education, some have become well-known professional painters, some have become well-known entrepreneurs, and some are active in the decorative industry.
The department currently has 18 full-time teachers, including 7 associate professors, 9 lecturers, and 2 teaching assistants. There is 1 member of the China Fine Arts Association, 5 members of the Hebei Fine Arts Association, 1 outstanding professional talent in Chengde City, 1 cross-century talent in Chengde City, and 2 excellent teachers in Chengde City. Most teachers have completed advanced studies at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, and the Beijing Art Academy.
The department currently offers two majors: Fine Arts Education and Art Design, with programs including Fine Arts Education (Diploma), Fine Arts Education (Diploma-to-Bachelor), and Art Design (Diploma). There are 304 students enrolled. The department adheres to the educational goal of "strict administration, strict management, enhanced education, and improved quality," and follows the basic principle of "strengthening the foundation, enhancing skills, emphasizing practicality, and increasing adaptability." It pays attention to educational reform, research, and academic activities. In recent years, 9 works have been selected for the 6th to 9th National Fine Arts Exhibitions, and many works have participated in national exhibitions and won awards. 5 professional textbooks, 3 personal art albums, and works have been published in national fine arts magazines.
The department has a professional computer classroom equipped with 30 computers. The library has 4,500 books, 4 types of professional journals and newspapers, and complete teaching instruments and equipment. The department has formed a coexistence model of teacher education and non-teacher education programs. With the deepening of reform, the department is expected to make greater contributions to the education and economic development of Chengde and Hebei Province.
Major Introduction
Fine Arts Education Major: The Fine Arts Education program was established in 1987, aiming to cultivate junior high school fine arts teachers and other art talents in urgent demand. The program has 18 full-time teachers, including 7 associate professors and 9 lecturers. The program has a 3-year duration and offers courses such as sketching, watercolor, gouache, oil painting, Chinese painting, craft design, plane composition, spatial composition, Photoshop, 3D, Corel, art theory, and the history of fine arts in China and abroad, as well as public courses like Marxist theory, pedagogy, psychology, public foreign language, and computer basics. Practical courses such as art exploration, teaching practice, and graduation projects are also included.
Art Design Major: The Art Design program was established in 2001, aiming to cultivate professionals with certain knowledge and skills in art design, capable of engaging in planning and design in fields such as industrial arts, advertising, and production. The program has 18 full-time teachers, including 7 associate professors and 9 lecturers. The program has a 3-year duration and offers courses such as sketching, color, pattern, composition, plane advertising design, packaging design, display design, CI design, Photoshop, 3D, Corel, and art design theory, as well as public courses like Marxist theory, public foreign language, and computer basics. Practical courses such as professional practice, art exploration, and graduation projects are also included.
