Classic Reading: Three Hundred Poems of Tang Dynasty

Features: What makes this book different from other annotated editions of Three Hundred Tang Poems? First, it is reorganized to be more suitable for teenagers. The original arrangement by poetic form by Hongtang Tuishi was intended to help beginners in poetry appreciate and master the characteristics of different forms for imitation. However, today's teenagers do not need to learn classical poetry, so arranging the authors chronologically is more appropriate and makes it easier to understand the development of Tang poetry. All authors in this book are arranged in chronological order based on their birth years, primarily according to the Collected Annotations of Tang Poets by Zhonghua Book Company, while also referencing the research findings of scholars from ancient and modern times. The birth years of those whose birth dates are unknown are determined by combining their death years, years of becoming a jinshi, and literary interactions to place them appropriately. Additionally, each author has a brief biography, aiming for accuracy, simplicity, and wit to help readers grasp the key characteristics of the author.
Second, the annotations and commentaries are designed to suit the tastes of teenagers, striving for depth with clarity, easy language, and inspiration. Classical terms are avoided, and overly complex citations are minimized. When necessary, the origins of allusions are noted. The annotations draw on the insights of ancient scholars and the latest research findings of contemporary scholars, as well as the author's own reflections. The commentaries aim to fully engage the imagination and associations of teenagers, guiding them into the realm of poetic beauty and enhancing their aesthetic appreciation.
