Features: Among the four major leading men in Yue Opera, Lu Jinhua is the youngest, hence her peers called her "Little Lu," while the younger generation referred to her as "Teacher Little Lu." She emerged as another first-rate school of female leading men following Yin Guifang, Fan Ruijuan, and Xu Yulan. To inherit and summarize her vocal artistry, as well as to meet the learning and appreciation needs of the broader Yue Opera community, I collected and compiled a Lu Jinhua Vocal Collection in the late 1950s. Today, at the request of Lu Jinhua, I have revised and supplemented this book. This book received support from the Art Archive Room of Shanghai Yue Opera Theater, which provided re-recorded audio and verified some textual materials. Ji Naiquan and Ping Meifang offered specific support and assistance during the writing and publication process. Lu Jinhua herself also wrote the postscript for this book. Through effort, this book compiles nineteen plays, including Pearl Pagoda, Love Inquiry, Wedding Banquet, and Discerning the Wife and Husband, and records sixty-six arias (including three opening pieces): such as "I Thought There Would Always Be Kinship Within the Family" (sung by Fang Qing), "A Gale Sweeps Across the Gate" (sung by Yu Kui), and "Birds Return to the Nest as the Sun Sets" (sung by Liu Yanchang). Most of the aria scores were rechecked in conjunction with the audio recordings and annotated. The issue of the attribution of the lyrics was also verified.
