Features: This book selects 125 representative works from 80+ contemporary Chinese writers from the 1950s to the late 1990s. In terms of selection criteria, it strives to minimize the intrusion of non-literary factors. Through this anthology, readers not only get a glimpse of the development of contemporary Chinese literature but also see the arduous efforts made by contemporary writers to preserve and enrich the literary aesthetic tradition. This book is an important supplementary textbook for the history of contemporary Chinese literature and also a literary read for lovers of literature. It is a strictly curated and selected collection. We have determined the following selection criteria. First, due to the limitations of the book's length, they must be short, such as short poems, short essays, and short stories. One-act plays should also be among the selected forms, but due to the lack of suitable works, they are temporarily excluded. The more important selection criterion is to minimize the consideration of non-literary factors, hoping to select works from a more pure literary perspective, avoiding preconceived notions about the author's identity or qualifications, and adhering to existing literary history "evaluations." Of course, due to the of literary development during this period, some attention is also given to the individual situations of different stages that are difficult to refuse, and adjustments may be made in the selection criteria.
