Features: This book is a comprehensive collection of Tang and Five Dynasties quzi ci (a type of lyric poetry). It aims to gather lost and scattered works, preserving both the poems and their authors. Even fragmented verses are included. The book is divided into two parts: the Main Collection and the Supplementary Collection. The Main Collection primarily includes quzi ci composed according to musical tunes, and it selects works based on the following two principles: 1) Works found in anthologies and individual collections compiled by Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song Dynasty scholars; 2) Works mentioned in Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song Dynasty texts that provide information about their creation, singing, or are explicitly identified as quzi ci. The Supplementary Collection mainly includes: 1) Works that are debated as belonging to poetry or ci by Tang and Song Dynasty scholars; 2) Works recorded in Ming and Qing Dynasty ci anthologies, collections, ci tunes, and discussions on ci, which can be traced back to poems later set to musical tunes and given ci titles, as well as those originally identified as yuefu or quju but modified by Ming and Qing scholars with ci tunes; 3) Works recorded in Ming and Qing Dynasty ci texts that are not found in Tang and Song Dynasty texts and are of the same length and meter as other Tang and Song Dynasty quzi ci; 4) Works with the same tune name, word count, and sentence structure as those in the Main Collection but not recorded in Tang and Song Dynasty texts, and whose classification as poetry or ci is uncertain.
