Features: Tang and Song Ci poetry is one of the most accomplished treasures in Chinese literature. It relies on melody to compose lyrics, rich in musical beauty, and refines words to create imagery, possessing a subtle charm beyond mere meaning. Its styles range from reserved and elegant to unrestrained and bold, representing another peak in the development of traditional Chinese rhyming literature and enjoying widespread appreciation among readers through the ages. Collections and selected works of Tang and Song Ci poetry have been published since the Song Dynasty. This time, we present Ci and Painting: Three Hundred Tang and Song Ci Poems, focusing on its appreciation and collection value, highlighting the complementary function of traditional Chinese poetry (Ci, Qu) and painting, and pursuing the distinctive features of rich illustrations and elegant, magnificent design. For this purpose, our publishing house, Shanghai Ancient Books Press, has selected 309 poems from various authors, aiming to reflect the general development of Tang and Song Ci poetry. We have specially invited renowned contemporary painters from across the country to create exquisite illustrations for each poem, allowing the emotions of the Ci to harmonize with the essence of the paintings. Additionally, we have paired each piece with insightful and elegant commentaries written by classical literature experts, enabling this outstanding literary heritage of Tang and Song Ci poetry to shine with new brilliance in the modern era.
