Features: The content of the book is divided into four parts: The first part is an introduction to the background. It comprehensively describes the social background of the modern tourism industry, the general situation of international tourism and the development of tourism in China, the academic origins of tourism and ethnology, the outline of contemporary tourism and tourism research, and the research status of Western tourism ethnology. Based on an overview of the exploration history of Chinese tourism ethnology, it analyzes the problems in the development of Chinese tourism ethnology and proposes countermeasures for further development. The second part is an introduction. The purpose of this part is to provide a relatively complete conceptual description of tourism ethnology as a science. Therefore, the author explains the tourism phenomena within the ethnological perspective and discusses the concept of "ethnic tourism" – a concept with unique theoretical value in tourism ethnology research – separately. It introduces the research perspectives, definitions, characteristics, significance, and research methods of tourism ethnology. The third part is the main content of tourism ethnology research. Tourism activities are composed of four basic elements: tourists, the source region, the tourism destination, and the tourism industry. They interact with and influence each other, forming the necessary conditions for tourism operation. The author conducts research on tourism phenomena and activities from an ethnological perspective, focusing on discussions of tourists and tourism, tourism destinations, ethnology and the tourism industry. The fourth part is a case study of sociocultural change in ethnic tourism destinations. The author selects eight representative ethnic tourism destinations in the northwest and southwest, aiming to study the sociocultural change issues of ethnic tourism destinations through different cases.
