Features: Mutual Support Among Colleagues
If a person feels: "My work is generally permitted, accepted by others, and everyone does their best to assist me in order to meet my needs," then he is referring to his supportive relationship with his colleagues. Every individual is part of a certain collective, and not only are their thoughts and actions influenced by the collective, but the success or failure of their work is also constrained and affected by the support or lack thereof from other members of the collective. For example: In a hospital, the chief physician, nurses, dietitians, radiologists, pharmacists, and other specialists, when faced with a patient, may each utilize their strengths and skills, with no one commanding or overseeing the others. However, they must work in close cooperation and support one another. Otherwise, it will be harmful to the patient they serve. On the operating table, although one surgeon performs the surgery, he must receive full support and collaboration from the anesthesiologist, assistant surgeon, nurses, and blood transfusion personnel for the surgery to achieve complete success. Otherwise, no matter how skilled the surgeon is, he cannot heal the patient.
For another example, a patient with asthma and cough comes to the hospital for treatment around noon. After the internist examines and auscultates the patient, he writes out a radiology referral for the patient to have an X-ray. However, the radiologist has locked the door and gone to eat. In such a situation, the patient can only accept his misfortune.
From this, it can be seen that the supportive relationship among members of a collective is very important. If an individual cannot receive support from other members, their work will be full of difficulties. In a collective with a supportive relationship, people treat each other equally, live in harmony, trust and cooperate with one another. Here, people adhere to the principle of "I help others, and others help me," without the cold indifference of "each person sweeping their own doorstep and not caring about the frost on others' roofs." In such a collective, everyone will have a sense of satisfaction. When they realize that this sense of satisfaction comes from others, they will also try their best to meet others' needs.
In life, we often see a ridiculous situation: A (Person A) gets angry at B (Person B), and B (Person B) takes their anger out on C (Person C), and this cycle of passing the buck continues, creating an accumulation of hostility. Support also has this accumulative nature. When a person realizes that others support them, they, in turn, tend to support others within the collective. This accumulative support can make the collective more united and work together in harmony.
It seems that the supportive relationship is of great significance to the survival of a collective. First, it can promote mutual learning, allowing people to take the strengths of others and improve their own weaknesses. Second, it gives people in the collective a sense of "sharing the same boat and facing the same storm." In such a collective, they can fully utilize their wisdom and talents, and no one will feel like they are "making clothes for others." Everyone views the collective's goals as "common interests," and they can only maintain this "common interest" by working together and assisting each other.
Furthermore, harmonious relationships can produce excellent work results. Goals are the foundation of coordination, and the setting and achievement of goals will create a sense of cohesion among the members of the collective. For example: When a collective completes a task with high efficiency, it seems to elevate the status of its members. Generally, those members of the collective who are recognized and respected for their outstanding work will feel even greater pride in being part of that collective.
A collective that achieves its goals through joint efforts will become more united internally, generating stronger cohesion. This "unity" will, in turn, provide greater motivation for the achievement of the next goal. Mutual support and cooperation among members provide the decisive conditions for the realization of goals.
