Features: II. Environmental Factors
The environment has a significant impact on human health, and almost all factors affecting human health are directly related to the environment. Based on the environment humans inhabit, it can be divided into two major aspects: natural environment and social environment.
1. Natural Environment
The natural environment includes sunlight, air, water, soil, climate, and various physical, chemical, and biological factors. It is the material basis for human survival and development and the foundation of human health. The relationship between humans and the natural environment is one of mutual dependence and mutual influence. Maintaining harmony between the natural environment and humans is of great importance for preserving and promoting health. As is well known, a healthy living environment is more beneficial for health than effective medical services. A beautiful and suitable environment can make people feel cheerful, regulate their endocrine system, and provide them with abundant energy, which is particularly important for the physical and mental growth and health of adolescents and children. However, when the external environment is polluted by waste water, exhaust gas, dust, noise, or other public hazards, or when sudden changes occur in weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold, humidity, temperature, airflow, or atmospheric pressure, or when environmental stimuli from factory wastewater, exhaust gas, and noise exceed the body's ability to adapt, the balance between the body and the external environment is disrupted, and human health may be affected, leading to pathological states. The natural environment of a school should include dormitories, classrooms, libraries, dining halls, sports facilities, green areas, and the surrounding campus environment. An elegant and suitable campus environment can promote the physical and mental development of students, enhance their learning motivation, and cultivate their character. Conversely, it can directly or indirectly affect students' physical and mental development and health. For example, poor dormitory hygiene, poor classroom sanitation, a lack of sports facilities, crowded and narrow student dormitories can lead to poor sleep quality in students. This not only severely affects their learning and work efficiency but may also cause various diseases, resulting in dysfunction of organs or systems. Therefore, the impact of environmental factors on human physical and mental health should not be ignored. Leaders at all levels and schools must attach great importance to the planning and construction of campus environments, actively create favorable campus environmental conditions, and promote the physical and mental health of students.
2. Social Environment
People live in a large family of society and are primarily connected with the social organizational structure and social consciousness structure. The social organizational structure refers to families, work and study units, healthcare facilities, and other social groups. The social consciousness structure refers to political trends, moral concepts, customs, cultural life, and policies and laws. The effects and influences produced by these two types of social factors can become either beneficial or harmful to human health. P4
