Publish Date: 1992-09-01
Features: This book attempts to conduct a relatively comprehensive analysis of the entire modern tone-pairs theory based on the achievements of predecessors and the author's own research insights. It discusses the general outline, origins, theories, methods, various types of phonological systems, and related issues, presenting personal viewpoints. Among these, the phonological system is our focus. We have encountered and studied over one hundred modern tone-pairs theory works, which, of course, do not constitute a complete collection. However, they generally reflect the basic characteristics of this period's tone-pairs theory and can represent its main aspects. As for works we have not yet reviewed, we learn about them through indirect materials and make every effort to utilize them to achieve a more comprehensive understanding. The research on the entire modern tone-pairs theory requires the collective efforts of numerous scholars to fully encompass it.
