Publish Date: 2001-12-01
Features: The series of cultural relic and museum textbooks, including "Chinese Archaeology," "Fundamentals of Chinese Museum Studies," "Chinese Ceramics," "Chinese Bronze Ware," "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting," and "Ancient Chinese Architecture," were compiled under the auspices of the National Cultural Relics Administration and published successively by Shanghai since 1990. They have received strong response from the cultural relic and museum community, as well as from all sectors of society and overseas peers, and have been praised by both professional and amateur enthusiasts. The series has been reprinted multiple times at the request of readers. In the past decade, China's cultural relic and museum industry has made significant progress, with continuous new discoveries and achievements emerging in various fields. To promptly reflect the new developments in the industry and to make the textbooks more comprehensive and better meet the needs of readers, the National Cultural Relics Administration has organized the original authors to revise the textbooks once again. This revision has not only supplemented new research findings and content but also corrected errors in the original books. (The content of "Chinese Archaeology" was not revised due to certain reasons) and color illustrations have been added to some of the textbooks. At the same time, "Chinese Ancient Coins" has been published for the first time. The chief editors of each book in this series are all seasoned experts and scholars (some have passed away), who, despite their advanced age and frailty, personally contributed to the revision, dedicating their hard work. We sincerely express our gratitude to them.
