Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-11-01
Features: This book is the first realist masterpiece in the history of Italian literature and a literary work with great social value in world literature. The Decameron tells 100 stories over ten days, encompassing the joys and sorrows of love, as well as strange and events from ancient and modern times. Throughout the book, the critique of feudal etiquette, the condemnation of asceticism, and the promotion of humanism are consistently present from beginning to end. The famous Italian modern critic Santici once ranked The Decameron alongside Dante's The Divine Comedy, calling it "The Human Comedy," believing that Dante ended an era while Boccaccio began another.
