Features: The Atlas of Liver Transplantation showcases the art of liver transplantation, compiled by Dr. Goran Klintmalm, a highly experienced and technically skilled transplant surgeon from the United States, and edited and illustrated by his colleague, Dr. Emesto P. Molmenti. The book does not aim to be exhaustive but is a distillation of the essence of liver transplantation. In the summer of 1979, encouraged by his mentor, Dr. Carl Groth, Klintmalm joined our work at the University of Colorado in Denver. At that time, cyclosporine had not yet been invented, and Klintmalm's research focus was on liver transplantation. He devoted immense effort to each case, both physically and mentally. We worked closely together for two years—first in Denver, then at the University of Pittsburgh. The book contains many lessons learned, some of which are not found in traditional textbooks. Liver transplantation requires collective coordination, but the leader must be able to grasp the bigger picture. The book not only fully demonstrates that Dr. Klintmalm is a comprehensive surgical expert with strong management, research, and organizational abilities but also highlights his exceptional teaching talent, benefiting his brilliant student, Dr. Emesto P. Molmenti.
