Features: Historiography is not a science, and jurisprudence is not a science either, so contemporary legal historiography is not a science. This can be expressed in a syllogism: Historiography is not a science, jurisprudence is a branch of historiography, therefore legal historiography is not a science. It is precisely because legal historiography is not a science that it is more important. However, it must be noted that the research in legal historiography still must employ scientific methods. Taking judicial trials as an example, when a court conducts a judicial trial, it must first determine the truth of civil and criminal cases, that is, it must first discover the factual truth of the case, before applying the law. Legal historiography is concerned with the factual truth of cases. Only by employing scientific methods to correctly discover the factual truth of cases, and then correctly applying the law, can fair and just judicial trials be achieved.
