Features: (IV) Building Teacher-Student Relationships in the Classroom
In classroom life, the establishment of good teacher-student relationships reflects on the teacher's ability to understand students' needs at all times, care about their problems, respect their personality and self-esteem, show love, and help students acquire knowledge and a sound personality in class life. On the student's part, it reflects their ability to show respect for teachers, be willing to approach teachers, learn actively, and share their academic difficulties or joys with teachers and classmates. Building teacher-student relationships in the classroom can consider the following principles:
1. Frequently Use Positive Reinforcement
Every individual needs encouragement and reinforcement from others. Inappropriate language or punishment is a fatal blow to the establishment of teacher-student relationships. As the saying goes, "Giving a child two hundred steamed buns and two fists, the child will deeply remember the two fists." Inappropriate punishment can easily create tension and opposition between teachers and students, potentially causing irreparable harm. When building teacher-student relationships, teachers should frequently use positive reinforcement principles, genuinely encourage students to display good behavior, provide appropriate encouragement for specific actions, and flexibly apply different types or methods of reinforcement strategies in teaching.
2. Skillfully Handle Student Issues
In classroom life, when facing students' deviant behavior and anti-social behavior, teachers must effectively use various counseling strategies to provide assistance. Therefore, teachers should strive to understand students' inner emotions and think about problems from different angles at the right time, using empathy to understand the main reasons for students' problematic behavior. Through individual counseling, small group counseling, or class counseling, more support and assistance should be provided to students with deviant behavior.
3. Cultivate a Attitude of Respect and Acceptance
In classroom life, teachers should show respect and care, warmth and acceptance to students, making them feel respected, thereby cultivating a attitude of respect and acceptance and fostering good interpersonal relationships. Teachers should replace lecturing with listening, shed the mindset of teacher authority, lower their role as a teacher, integrate into students' daily lives, and become part of their learning life.
4. Skillfully Handle Teacher Emotions
In classroom life, teachers must always cultivate a good temper. When frustration tolerance decreases, teachers should be able to handle their negative emotions at any time. When feeling pressure, they can flexibly adjust and manage their emotions. By handling their emotions in a humanistic way, they can avoid passing negative emotions to students, causing anxiety and pressure in their learning. Therefore, teachers should be able to change their irrational thinking patterns at any time, adjust their pace appropriately, seize various learning opportunities, and strengthen their ability to change themselves.
