Features: Elementary English is a research outcome of Tsinghua University's "Integrated English Teaching Program for Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary Schools." It is written in levels, ranging from 1A, 1B to 6A, 6B, comprising a total of 6 levels and 12 books. The starting levels are 1A and 1B. The first four levels (1A-4B) fulfill the fundamental requirements for English learning in the primary school stage as outlined in the National English Curriculum Standards issued by the Ministry of Education. This textbook strives to reflect new educational philosophies, perspectives on language, and views on foreign language learning. It focuses on developing practical language skills, emphasizes the communicative function and instrumental nature of language, and aims to cultivate students' ability to communicate in English as the ultimate goal, while also nurturing their interest in learning. The content is designed to progress from simple to complex, in a step-by-step manner, with clear emphasis on key points and the gradual introduction of challenging concepts. Vocabulary is appropriately introduced and repeated, and sentence patterns and textual materials are selected and organized based on students' physical, mental characteristics, cognitive levels, and language proficiency. The textbook system also emphasizes rigorous training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as the comprehensive development of language skills.
The Activity Book (4A) is designed to complement the Main Textbook (4A) of Elementary English and is intended for use in the first semester of primary school grade four. The book is divided into 5 units, with each unit containing 7 lessons, making a total of 35 lessons. In each unit, the last lesson serves as a comprehensive exercise to assess students' mastery of the unit's content.
