How to determine the ovulation day

Patient's question:

No

Doctor's answer:

The ovulation date of a woman is generally about 14 days before the next menstrual period. After the egg is released from the ovary, it can survive in the fallopian tube for 1-2 days, waiting for fertilization; male sperm can maintain fertilizing ability in a woman's reproductive tract for 2-3 days, so sexual intercourse during the days before and after ovulation is more likely to result in pregnancy. For safety, we refer to the 5 days before the ovulation date and the 4 days after it, including the ovulation day itself, as the 10-day ovulation period. Because sexual intercourse during the ovulation period is more likely to result in pregnancy, this period is also known as the fertile period or the risky period.
