Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
ABO hemolysis is an immune hemolysis caused by blood type incompatibility between mother and fetus, commonly occurring when the mother is type O blood and the child is type A or B blood. Due to the mother's anti-A or anti-B antibodies (IgG) crossing the placenta into the fetus, binding to the red blood cell membrane, it induces hemolysis in the fetus. It is the most common type of hemolysis caused by blood type incompatibility between mother and fetus.
