This book compiles the author's recent reflections on some major issues in China's economic reform and development over the past few years, primarily including insights and viewpoints in fields such as macroeconomic regulation and industrial modernization, coordinated development of the economy and society, regional economy, strategic adjustment of state-owned economy, and enterprise reform and management. In terms of macroeconomic operation, the author early proposed the issue of localized overheating in the economy starting in 2003 and suggested controlling fixed-asset investment, reducing blind and repetitive construction, and maintaining a moderate growth rate, which garnered widespread attention and recognition from society. In terms of national conditions research, the author scientifically proposed that China's basic economic conditions have shifted from an agrarian nation to an industrial one, that contemporary China is no longer an agrarian nation but still a nation of farmers, that it has become an industrial nation but is not yet an industrial powerhouse, providing a fundamental theoretical basis for China's modernization efforts. In terms of coordinated economic development, the author emphasized the importance of social security and employment alongside economic growth, advocating for coordinated development between urban and rural areas, as well as between the economy and the environment, with a particular focus on establishing a social security system in rural areas. In terms of coordinated regional development, the author conducted research on large-scale development in the west, the rise of the central region, and the revitalization of old industrial bases in the northeast, offering unique insights. In terms of the strategic adjustment of state-owned economy, enterprise reform, and enterprise management, the author proposed a tiered ownership system for state-owned assets, the integration of state-owned economic layout adjustment with economic structure management, the deepening of reforms in monopolistic enterprises, and the strategic restructuring of state-owned economy, providing effective pathways for reform in this sector.
