Features: Like a prince from a fairy tale, handsome yet slightly melancholic, accompanying me, wanting time to stop, holding his hand in that moment. Have I ever told you I like you? Of course, I have. The moon never needs to tell the stars it likes them; the stars still stay by its side. Just like me, under your moonlight, I remain silent but can still feel your warmth. We share a fate with summer, don’t we? At twelve, Ye Pinxia spread her arms wide, making a helpless expression, as a pouting little girl stood before her. Her clear eyes looked at her, insisting she explain why her name was Pinxia. Pinxia chuckled inwardly. Names aren’t given by parents, how could she know the reason? Besides, she had never asked her parents before. Their answer was always the same.
"Pinxia, you share a fate with summer."
At first, Yaoyao persisted, wanting to unravel the mystery, but she eventually let it go. Pinxia and summer indeed shared a deep bond. And their acquaintance didn’t begin in any other season but summer. Pinxia and Ye Yuedan’s meeting also started in the same summer.
In the morning of summer, the heat had yet to rise, and the chirping of cicadas had just begun. Pinxia’s parents had the habit of morning exercises, leaving the house around 5 a.m., and of course, today was no exception. However, Pinxia loved sleeping, and her parents never bothered her when they left in the morning. But today, her peaceful sleep was shattered early by the deafening noise outside.
The night before, her parents had mentioned that the family next door was moving in. So what was all this noise about now? Was it because the neighbors were moving? Was it already this early? Pinxia snatched the bedside alarm clock. Huh, only 6:15! What’s going on? So noisy.
Her summer vacation nights were ruined, and even the usually well-behaved Pinxia couldn’t help but feel agitated. She ruffled her long hair, climbed out of bed, and walked barefoot through the living room to the front door. When she opened it, she saw a boy standing there, not much older than her.
The boy stood with his back to Pinxia, his white shirt hanging loosely on his body, faintly revealing the lines of his shoulder blades. He seemed a bit frail, Pinxia thought silently, and she subtly stuck out her tongue. Just as she turned to leave, the boy noticed her staring and turned to face her at that moment.
In that instant, their eyes met. Pinxia’s heart skipped, and she felt her face burning. His eyes were beautiful phoenix eyes, long and clear, with slightly upturned corners. The dark, jade-like eyes sparkled with warmth, clearly reflecting Pinxia’s flustered figure—she was pulling her foot back, her pale face flushed with embarrassment.
He was looking at her, and Pinxia felt nervous. She had never been stared at so directly.
"Who are you?" His voice was slightly hoarse, as if smooth and clear had been forcibly scratched with shallow marks, yet it remained pleasant, carrying an unusual allure.
Pinxia’s heart clenched suddenly, as if bewitched by his voice. She instinctively answered his question:
"I’m Ye Pinxia."
The boy’s lips, pressed tightly together, twitched. Then they twitched again, and a soft, tinkling laugh escaped his throat, instantly dispelling the awkward silence.
"Your name is similar to mine." His eyes sparkled with a playful smile, as if reflecting the stars in the sky. He reached out his hand.
"I’m Ye Yuedan. Nice to meet you."
Pinxia stared at his outstretched hand, admiring the distinct knuckles and long fingers. Then she widened her eyes in surprise. Oh my god, their names were really similar!
