Features: Once, Qu Gao Sheng and his family participated in the "Three-Day Tour of Qiandao Lake" activity. During the tour, he met the tour guide, Yang Bosheng, and they discovered a shared interest in collecting entrance tickets. After returning to Shanghai, Mr. Yang became Qu Gao Sheng's "introduction" to the Shanghai Collectors Association's Tourism and Culture Committee, where he met Director Yao Jinwen. Mr. Yao agreed to be his reference for membership. Later, Qu Gao Sheng also met Huang Liugen and Ding Baiming from the Pudong Collectors Association, and he became a formal member of both associations, thus stepping onto the path of serious collecting.
When it comes to collecting, some prefer to go it alone, while others enjoy group activities. Some seek personal satisfaction, while others value shared joy. Qu Gao Sheng, however, is someone who thrives in group settings. He deeply feels that collecting entrance tickets alone cannot lead to success; only within a collecting community can a collector truly realize their value.
Since joining the association, Qu Gao Sheng has been a regular at monthly ticket salons. He has gone from knowing a few people to knowing many, from displaying his own collections to observing others', gaining knowledge through exchange and expanding his collection through trade.
Once, Qu Gao Sheng and fellow collectors attended the 14th National Tourism Entrance Ticket Collection Exhibition in Chongqing. They also took the opportunity to visit Guiyang and Zunyi, exchanging insights and collecting local tickets—joys that cannot be experienced alone.
Sometimes, organizing a salon without a venue can be challenging. Thus, Qu Gao Sheng became a dedicated helper, leveraging his connections with colleagues and friends to find locations for the salons, such as Pudong Hotel and several neighborhood committees in the Fanchuan area. His efforts were well-received by fellow collectors, and Qu Gao Sheng found that this positive feedback brought him a sense of community warmth. This warmth went far beyond the realm of self-entertainment, which was exactly what brought him great happiness.
In truth, the real joy of collecting entrance tickets lies in the relentless pursuit.
What Qu Gao Sheng cherishes is the memory of November 11, 2003. He was at home resting when he suddenly received a call, asking him to work at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum from midnight to guard the space exhibition. Despite the exhausting work, what excited him was collecting four different-patterned entrance tickets for the Shanghai exhibition of China's first manned space flight, which he had long dreamed of. These tickets were exactly what dedicated collectors had been struggling to obtain.
After more than a decade of collecting entrance tickets, Qu Gao Sheng has amassed nearly 10,000 varieties, covering topics such as cableways, forest parks, zoos, botanical gardens, former residences of celebrities, memorial halls, museums, and inscriptions by great figures. As his collection grows, so does the joy of collecting—this is Qu Gao Sheng's world of entrance ticket collecting!
