What is the reference range for neonatal jaundice?

Patient's question:

My baby was born on the 11th and discharged from the hospital on the 16th. When leaving the hospital, the doctor said the baby's jaundice was within the normal physiological range. But today, when I went for a check-up, the baby's forehead was 14.1mg. What is the reference range for baby jaundice?

Doctor's answer:

Physiological jaundice is caused by the metabolic characteristics of bilirubin in children. Approximately 50% to 60% of full-term infants and 80% of premature infants will develop physiological jaundice. Its characteristics are: (1) generally good condition; (2) jaundice appears 4-5 days after birth, with a peak at 4-5 days, lasting 5-7 days, and not exceeding 2 weeks in the latest case; premature infants' jaundice appears 3-5 days or later after birth, with a peak at 5-7 days, and subsiding by 7-9 days.
