What should I do if my child has anorexia?

Patient's question:

These days, I haven't eaten anything at all and suspect I might have developed anorexia. What should I do about pediatric anorexia?

Doctor's answer:

Child anorexia may be caused by improper feeding practices by parents in daily life. To treat child anorexia, it is best to let the child eat at regular times and in fixed quantities from a young age, and to encourage the child to feed themselves as much as possible to enhance their interest in eating. In terms of meal times, for example, three meals a day are recommended, with intervals of 4-5 hours between meals; however, if four meals a day are preferred, the intervals between meals should be 3-4 hours. Parents should also limit their child's intake of snacks and beverages. When necessary, small amounts of fresh fruits, yogurt, or juice can be given to stimulate appetite.
