How to mix feed for newborn jaundice?

Patient's question:

My blood type is O, the baby's blood type is AB, and the little baby is A. My little baby is 40 days old, and the skin is still yellow. The bilirubin level is 5.8 (the normal upper limit is 3.0). Due to insufficient breast milk, I add formula milk twice a day. I would like to consult how to mix feed the baby with.

Doctor's answer:

Jaundice usually persists continuously for 3 to 4 weeks, gradually subsiding in the second month, and a small portion may take up to 10 weeks to fully resolve. During the jaundice period, if breastfeeding is stopped for 3 to 4 days, the jaundice will significantly improve, with bilirubin levels dropping by ≥50%. If breastfeeding resumes afterward, jaundice may not reappear, or if it does, it will not reach the original severity. Currently, the baby's jaundice index is mildly elevated, and the issue is not significant. If the baby is generally doing well, no special treatment is needed.
