What should I do if the nipple inversion surgery fails?

Patient's question:

I am a patient with inverted nipples. In August 2009, I underwent an inversion surgery at a plastic surgery hospital, but the surgery failed. The inverted nipples did not pull out. My inversion is severe, so I am very worried that the surgical failure might lead to complications of other breast diseases.

Doctor's answer:

Nipple inversion can trigger some diseases due to the retention of debris, but it does not cause diseases itself.
If the inversion is severe, the surgical recurrence rate is relatively high. If the breast ducts are not cut, it can sometimes be difficult to completely correct the inversion.
You can first try the method of using a support brace for traction. After three to six months, remove the brace and immediately perform an enhancing surgery. Most patients will find the issue resolved.
