Hard lumps in the breast during lactation, how to get rid of the lumps, no back

Patient's question:

Lumps in my breasts, sometimes painful. My breasts are very large, and there are still many lumps inside. Now that my daughter is almost six months old, there are still many lumps in my breasts. My milk supply is very abundant, but my daughter eats little, and the milk doesn't leak out. I use a breast pump every day to extract over a thousand milliliters.

Doctor's answer:

It's a good thing to have a lot of milk, but it's really necessary to try to express as much as possible. A breast pump cannot extract it all.
Method 1: Let the baby feed from only one breast each time until they are full. Only switch to the other breast if there is truly no milk left. Alternate breasts for the next feeding. If the other breast is not fully emptied or not fed at all, have the baby's father suck it out or use a breast pump.
Method 2: Apply heat to the breasts before and after each feeding. If there are hard lumps, an ultrasound is needed to confirm whether it is simply milk accumulation or a mass.
