Features: As a world-renowned ancient capital with a history of over 3,000 years of city construction and more than 800 years of being the capital, Beijing has undergone significant urban development since the founding of the People's Republic of China. With the care and support of the central government, large-scale urban construction has been carried out, greatly transforming the city's appearance. Over the past 20 years of reform and opening-up, especially in recent years, numerous key urban infrastructure projects have been completed, gradually forming a relatively sound and developed three-dimensional transportation system. This has greatly contributed to the prosperity and development of various sectors in the capital, propelling Beijing toward becoming a modern and international metropolis.
To provide a more comprehensive introduction to Beijing and better meet the needs of people's work and daily lives, with the support of the Propaganda Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, China Map Publishing House has published the Beijing Map Atlas. This atlas reflects, from one perspective, the development of Beijing's urban infrastructure, environmental construction, tourism development, and new changes in areas related to people's livelihoods, such as food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. It aims to meet the work, study, and travel needs of a broad readership and help them better understand, recognize, and even love our capital, Beijing.
Beijing is constantly advancing and changing. This development is reflected geographically, but she is also an epitome of the city's economic, political, cultural, and social progress. What the atlas can reflect is only a small part of this development and change. However, we hope that friends from all walks of life at home and abroad can, through this window, not only see the present Beijing but also look forward to its bright future.
