Features: Originally, I never understood why I had to ask someone else to write a preface for a book I had painstakingly written. It wasn’t until I wrote one myself that I realized prefaces always had to include praise, and praising oneself was always embarrassing. In the old days, novels often began with a "main content" section, hoping to attract readers with the plot and make them unable to resist buying the book. But gradually, readers became so skilled at guessing the plot after reading the main content that they even imagined it better than the author, no longer buying the book. The author suffered immensely and then hid the plot, seeking endorsements from famous scholars. If no one could be found, they would express gratitude or disdain for someone, or write a preface as lengthy as an afterword, talking about the hardships of the creative process—truly exhausting for everyone. Let’s get back to the point. The Makeup Box’s Disturbance is about a period of time. Or, a dream. Or, the cost of a dream. Fulfilling a small dream will change you. If you don’t want those around you to notice, you must apply makeup for yourself. If you want the whole world to see, you must apply makeup for the whole world. Makeup a perfect person, makeup a charming person, makeup a confident person, makeup a simple person, makeup a god. Makeup is not disguise. Applying makeup is so that only beauty is visible to you. Of course, I never doubt that there are so many innocent and free-spirited people in the world. For the lovely ones among you, I want to say, please appreciate the story’s purity, simplicity, and the occasional beauty hidden in its melancholy.
