Features: Currently, there are not many medium-sized English-Chinese and Chinese-English bidirectional dictionaries. Considering the learning and usage needs of a broad readership, we compiled this New English-Chinese and Chinese-English Dictionary in the early 1990s. With this one volume in hand, you effectively have both an English-Chinese and Chinese-English dictionary. During this revision, we collected new materials and conducted comprehensive additions and revisions. The third edition retains the features of the second edition, such as a rich vocabulary, accurate definitions, logical arrangement, strong practicality, and clear fonts. Additionally, we have made every effort to supplement new words, new usage examples, and new illustrative sentences to ensure the dictionary keeps pace with the times. The entire book contains over 80,000 English-Chinese and Chinese-English entries. English-Chinese entries are annotated with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and Chinese-English entries are appropriately annotated with Pinyin. After the main body of both dictionaries, there are fifteen illustrations of Chinese and English plants and animals, as well as textual appendices including China's administrative divisions, ethnic groups in China, chronological tables of Chinese dynasties, the 24 solar terms, and (partial data) the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Other appendices include numerals, dates, times, ages, telephone numbers, chemical elements, metric and imperial/British imperial system of measurement conversions, etc.
