Features: This book took six years from the conception of its guiding principles to the collection of materials and the writing of exercises. Chinese students often find it difficult to master English speaking. Limited oral question-and-answer sessions and the rote memorization of short passages and dialogues do not effectively improve students' ability to use English in real-life daily conversations. Students often have a fear of speaking English and struggle to overcome this barrier. To find a way that encourages students to use English in spoken practice, we conducted experiments and explorations, studied oral textbooks both domestically and internationally, and examined the specific environment in which Chinese students learn spoken English. We selected materials from more than 60 books and periodicals from both China and abroad to complete this "English Speaking Course." It has the following features:
1) The lesson themes are closely related to the lives and thoughts of young people, covering a wide range of topics that are often of interest to them and topics they enjoy discussing. Learning this book helps young people develop a strong desire to use English in spoken practice.
2) The training progresses from easy to difficult in a step-by-step manner. The exercises are carefully designed and lively in form. "Basic English Speaking" and "Intermediate English Speaking" each come with illustrations and exercises, with methods that have been repeatedly used and proven effective in our teaching over the years.
3) It cultivates students' comprehensive oral skills, including narration, dialogue, conversation, discussion, debate, and more.
4) The textbook is highly adaptable, suitable for young students of different levels in schools as well as English self-learners of varying proficiency levels.
5) Each set of textbooks is accompanied by English audio recordings, with narrators who are scholars and experts from English-speaking countries. The recordings are clear, fluent, beautiful, and feature standard, pure pronunciation and intonation.
