Publish Date: 2005-05-01
Features: The "Weekly 100 Characters Practice Book" published in 1996 and revised in 1998 has been distributed over 100,000 copies to date. This book has played a significant role in supporting the promotion of the "Common Characters List of Modern Chinese" issued by the State Language Commission, promoting standardized character usage in society, and training students in the correct use of Chinese characters. It has received praise from a broad readership and teachers and students in schools. Currently, the phenomenon of mispronouncing or misusing characters is still relatively serious in society, and with rapid social development, new characters prone to mispronunciation or misuse have emerged. To adapt to new needs and correct shortcomings discovered during the book's use, we have revised it again to better serve readers. The revisions in this edition primarily focus on the following aspects:
1. Expanded Content: In addition to the 3,500 characters in the "Common Characters List of Modern Chinese," the revision includes over 500 characters that are frequently used in society but are prone to mispronunciation or misspelling. After the revision, the book now contains 40 exercises, an increase from the original 35, along with 4 newly added self-test questions of moderate difficulty.
2. Diversified Question Types: The revision has increased the types of questions from 7 to 12 to enhance reader engagement and provide more effective training.
3. Added Hints: Each exercise now includes hints. For commonly mispronounced or misspelled characters with high error rates, explanations or brief analyses are provided to draw readers' attention.
4. Computerized Sorting: This revision uses computer-assisted sorting to ensure that each exercise pairs common and secondary common characters reasonably, with difficulty levels remaining relatively consistent.
