Features: Learn Investment by Listening to Stories? On April 1, 2001, I participated in a race called "Marathon des Sables" in the boundless desert, running 243 kilometers over 7 days, which is equivalent to 1.5 times the distance from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. Since investing is also a marathon, I decided to use this story to explain investment theories to everyone. The Marathon des Sables is an annual race, the most challenging and supreme test in the world of long-distance running. A standard marathon race is 42 kilometers, but the Marathon des Sables is six times longer, with rugged terrain and harsh conditions, where participants endure scorching temperatures of over 50 degrees Celsius each day. During these 7 days, the organizers only provide daily drinking water and tents for the participants, while everything else must be carried by the runners, including daily food, cooking utensils, sleeping bags, clothing, luggage, and daily necessities. The backpacks carried along the route weigh up to 30 pounds. In the discussions of this book, investing will be treated as a marathon, and five similarities between marathons and investing will be pointed out, such as how to prepare thoroughly beforehand, the attitude of adapting during the race, and finally breaking through the finish line to complete the goal. As for the 7-day Marathon des Sables race, I will consider it as an investment plan, planning tomorrow's strategy based on the results of each day, much like technical analysis in investing, where decisions are made based on different situations: today's performance is good, but if you run too fast, will you lack stamina tomorrow? The corresponding question in stock investment is: if the price has risen significantly today, should you increase your position or reduce it? Through these interesting comparisons, I hope everyone can learn the principles of investment analysis more easily. I am not a professional athlete, nor a sports coach or expert, so I am not qualified to teach you how to run a marathon. I can only share my own experiences and insights with everyone, along with the joys and struggles of running a marathon, and how to apply these principles to investing. The outcome of a marathon is the struggle and inspiration of day after day, year after year, something that cannot be achieved in the short term. Investing is the same, because investing itself is a super marathon in life! P4-5
