Features: There is a particular aspect of Jewish people when it comes to making money—they adhere to cashism. They are believers of cashism. Jewish merchants conduct business based on cash standards and are reluctant to offer credit. When evaluating the creditworthiness of a trading partner, they primarily consider how much their company is worth and how much of their assets can be converted into cash. On this basis, they engage in business or determine the value terms. They believe that the world is unpredictable, and that in the face of disasters and calamities, nothing but cash can help one immediately recover. The emphasis on cashism among Jewish people may be related to their long history of persecution and exclusion. In many countries, they have been subjected to multiple waves of discrimination, with each anti-Jewish campaign resulting in the confiscation of their property. Those who managed to escape did so because they had cash on hand. This historical lesson has shaped their belief in cash.
As we know, since the fall of the Roman Empire, Jews have been expelled and have lived a nomadic life. The political landscape is unpredictable, and the policies toward Jews in different regions have varied entirely based on subjective whims. This precarious existence forced Jews to always be prepared to migrate at a moment's notice to avoid the fate of being slaughtered or persecuted. The turbulent life and social environment determined that Jewish people's choices of property would be unique. They typically held cash or converted their money into gold and diamonds, owning very few fixed assets. Since land, buildings, and other fixed assets cannot be carried, they would have to abandon them in times of crisis. For the money-loving Jewish people, this was a tremendous loss.
The astute Jewish people would not purchase land to build luxurious villas, especially in times of war and chaos. At the slightest hint of political instability, they would immediately roll up their assets and flee. The property they could carry with them was their lifeline during times of hardship. With it, they would not worry about any disasters or calamities. Thus, cash became their guarantee and reliance, and their preference for cash is unparalleled. In fact, even in today's trade activities, cash remains extremely important. The ever-changing market and the risks hidden in every transaction activity mean that neglecting cashism often leads to losing everything. Therefore, the cashism concept of Jewish merchants is very reasonable.
The way Jewish people handle cash is particularly evident in their daily lives and business dealings. If you have ever done business with Jewish merchants, you may understand how they evaluate their trading partners. In their minds, they think, "How much cash is that person carrying today?" Even more astonishing is their evaluation of companies: "How much is that company worth in cash today?" Overall, they are concerned only with cash in their minds; no other form of currency exists. They strive to "cashify" everything, using cash to estimate the value of others, i.e., how much cash they are equivalent to. This conservative mindset of Jewish people determines that their business transactions are often cash-based. Even if the trading partner becomes a billionaire a year later, there is no guarantee that they will not face sudden changes tomorrow. In this complex and vibrant world, who can know what tomorrow will bring?
Today, people, society, and nature are changing every day, but only cash remains unchanged. This is the belief of Jewish people and also the "divine will" of Judaism. Therefore, Jewish people believe that only cash is safe, reliable, and eternal. P6-7
