Features: A series of college English writing textbooks. The book is divided into four parts. The first part provides an overview of English writing knowledge and techniques, citing new findings in linguistics, analyzing and comparing the thinking, expression methods, and habits of different Eastern and Western ethnic groups, and proposing principles for writing authentic English. The second and third parts introduce writing knowledge and techniques from sentences to paragraphs, and then to full texts, enabling students to achieve the goal of writing short essays in English, conveying information, and expressing ideas through the application of knowledge and techniques. The fourth part introduces two special forms of English writing—writing summaries and book reports—meeting the general requirements of college English education. The book has the following features: It is easy to understand and written in the first person, fully embodying the humanistic spirit, allowing users to participate in discussions on issues on an equal footing and enhancing their confidence in writing authentic English essays. Each chapter is accompanied by a large number of exercises, with varying levels of difficulty, allowing teachers and students to freely choose and flexibly use them. The exercise arrangement adopts a scientific three-stage cycle method of "prediction—practice—effect evaluation." Prediction can stimulate readers' curiosity; practice helps them familiarize themselves with writing techniques and gain true knowledge; effect evaluation not only serves to review and consolidate the writing knowledge and techniques learned but also enhances readers' confidence in improving their writing skills. Creatively integrates the use of punctuation into the discussion of the overall coherence and continuity of the text, changing the traditional approach of writing books that isolates punctuation. Examples are mostly drawn from contemporary British and American original works, but they are not rigidly applied, which allows the book to break free from the constraints of Chinglish while meeting the actual learning needs of Chinese students.
