Over the past three years, the complex and anxious emotions had finally become clear and tranquil with the completion of the last word of this biography. In 1994, when the author was transferred to the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Professor Wu Zuzze was appointed as the president of the academy. In 1995, the author participated in the typical publicity of Professor Wu Zuzze as a key staff member. In 1999, the General Logistics Department organized a team to write a collection reflecting the image of the academicians in the General Logistics Department—The Stories of Twenty-Four Stars. The author was fortunate enough to be assigned the task of writing a 10,000-word report on Professor Wu Zuzze, and it was during this interview that the author decided to write a biography for Professor Wu. This wish was finally realized in May 2002.
Wu Zhijun is an author with a background in journalism, yet he has always had a deep fondness and pursuit of literature. Therefore, while writing news reports, he managed to publish three long works of literature in just a few years. The key to literature lies in the observation and study of people, and this biography The Spring of Life is no exception. The protagonist, Professor Wu Zuzze, is a renowned scientist who, as a pioneer in the field of hematopoietic stem cell research in China, dedicated 40 years of selfless work and relentless exploration, achieving remarkable accomplishments that have attracted worldwide attention in the medical community. However, portraying the work and life of a scientist in the form of a biography is a challenge for both the author and the subject. Fortunately, both Wu Zhijun, the author, and Wu Zuzze, the subject, withstood the test. With a simple and unadorned pen and a tolerant, calm heart, readers see a genuine biography of a person. Authenticity is the most important, and only authenticity can endure forever.
