Patient's question:
My child was diagnosed with herpangina a few days ago. What medicine should be taken for herpangina?Doctor's answer:
Still got hand, foot, and mouth disease. It's important to keep the child warm, avoid catching a cold, and replenish fluids promptly. Herpangina is a type of pharyngitis characterized by fever and herpangina blisters or ulcers in the pharynx, which is contagious and most commonly affects young children. The main symptoms are fever and sore throat. Physical examination may reveal congestion of the pharyngeal mucosa and scattered blisters, which break open to form ulcerative sores. The treatment primarily focuses on antiviral and fever-reducing measures. Intravenous administration of ribavirin and oral administration of Motrin oral solution can be used. If the white blood cell count is not elevated or there are no obvious signs of bacterial infection, anti-inflammatory drugs are not recommended. Due to its high contagiousness, isolation and protective measures should be taken.
