Features: Long before Pinocchio was born, there was a carpenter named Antonio, who was called "Cherry Master" by everyone. He found a piece of wood and decided to carve it into a table leg. But just as he raised his axe, a very, very faint voice came from somewhere: "Don't chop me too hard!" The kind-hearted Cherry Master was amazed! Strange, how could wood talk? Cherry Master picked up the axe again and chopped hard at the piece of wood. "Ouch! You hurt me!" the faint voice cried in complaint. This time, Cherry Master froze in shock. Just then, there was a knock-knock-knock on the door. The door opened, and a lively little old man walked into the carpenter's shop. His name was Geppetto, and the neighborhood children always called him "Old Cornmeal" because his yellow wig looked just like cornmeal, so they gave him that nickname. Geppetto had a terrible temper; if anyone called him "Old Cornmeal," he would instantly become as fierce as a beast. "Hello, Master Antonio," Geppetto said, "I'm here to ask for your help. I want to make a beautiful puppet by hand. It will dance, play swords, and do somersaults. I want to take it around the world. What do you think?" "That's wonderful, Old Cornmeal!" Geppetto had barely finished speaking when that very, very faint voice suddenly called out from somewhere. Geppetto's face instantly turned red as a chili pepper. "Why did you call me Old Cornmeal?" "How could I call you that?" "Besides you, who else?" P1-3
