Features: After these creatures emerged from the ground, some danced frequently, as if extremely joyful, while others remained lazy and motionless, their bodies flickering with light like neon lights in a city. "These are more like plants," said Fa Zhangqing, as she approached a tree-like creature. Its trunk was short and thick, with sparse branches and leaves, swaying like human arms. Each leaf glowed green, and water droplets falling from the air were instantly absorbed by the leaves. Feng Zhaoyuan felt a sudden inspiration, "At night, the temperature here rises, and there is ample water, so these plants emerge to absorb heat and water." Fa Zhangqing gazed at the glowing plants in silence. Feng Zhaoyuan looked at her, and she sighed faintly, "In my imagination, the Void should be an incredibly marvelous world, with all scenery appearing dreamlike and unrealistic. But now that I’ve truly seen it, I suddenly feel a sense of disappointment. These creatures, though different from those on Earth, aren’t particularly extraordinary."
"It’s just like that," Fa Zhangqing called out in disappointment, "I thought this would be an eternal sky, but instead, it’s a wild and desolate place. If I had known the Void looked like this, I wouldn’t have wasted my time coming here." Feng Zhaoyuan smiled, "Do you think the Void is a fairyland with pavilions, towers, and misty clouds? That’s just a legend of humans. Besides, this place has been through a war, so even if it was once picturesque, it’s long since changed beyond recognition." The two continued to walk forward. In the night sky, no stars were visible, only clusters of blue clouds drifting slowly. These clouds were thick and radiant, casting a strange blue glow on the two of them. The terrain ahead gradually rose, revealing vast mountain ranges with layered peaks stretching into the distance. The rocks were deep red, covered in sharp, thorny bushes. The bushes bloomed white flowers, with round, red fruits at their centers, emitting a faint fragrance.
"Let’s just climb over the mountains directly," said Fa Zhangqing, extending her hands to shorten the nearby space. In the blink of an eye, they had leaped over several mountains. Feng Zhaoyuan used the technique of "Strange Doors and" (Qimen Dunjia), and his figure flickered, appearing behind Fa Zhangqing. Although this world was different from Earth, their abilities and Daoist arts could still be used without any restrictions.
"You see, ahead looks like a city," said Fa Zhangqing, pointing in that direction. On the other side of the peaks, Feng Zhaoyuan saw numerous mushroom-shaped, circular buildings, large in size and densely distributed. Narrow rivers seemed to flow between the buildings. He opened his bloodthirsty eyes and noticed a few moving figures amidst the faint red glow.
"City, and there are creatures," Feng Zhaoyuan and Fa Zhangqing exchanged glances, their faces turning grave. It was highly likely that those terrifying gods lived in these buildings.
"Let’s get closer and observe them from the shadows," Feng Zhaoyuan said cautiously. Fei Changfang had only tasked them with assessing the current state of the Void, so there was no need to enter the city and disturb these dreadful creatures. Fa Zhangqing nodded, and the two, afraid of alerting each other, refrained from using their abilities or spells, relying solely on their feet to climb the mountains.
On the steep cliffs, they often saw round holes, about the size of eggs. Mouse-like creatures darted in and out of the holes. They were sleek, colorful, and even finer than sable fur on Earth. These mice were plump, with round, glowing spheres instead of slender tails. As they passed through the mouse herd, the mice didn’t fear them but stared curiously with bright red eyes, their glowing tails flickering.
"I think the Void needs cats," Feng Zhaoyuan laughed. They climbed to the peak closest to the city and overlooked it from above. The city’s layout was clear in their vision. A silver river shone brilliantly, winding through the entire city. The city was surrounded by mountains on three sides, while the fourth side was bordered by a dense, colorful forest. Some strange creatures cautiously emerged from the city and entered the forest. These creatures were small in stature, with long fur and bright, bell-like eyes. Like humans, they walked upright, but their movement was extremely slow.
"It doesn’t look like gods," Feng Zhaoyuan observed for a long time, declaring firmly with his bloodthirsty eyes.
Fa Zhangqing pondered, "Then what kind of creatures are these?"
"Let’s go down and take a look," Feng Zhaoyuan suggested. Based on his bloodthirsty eyes, the entire city seemed to lack the presence of gods. Fa Zhangqing hesitated for a moment but nodded. The two flickered in place, instantly appearing in the center of the city.
